Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop in York is a fun stop, especially if you have a sweet tooth. The ice cream was good, the staff were friendly, and there is a ton of candy to choose from. It is one of those places where there is sugar everywhere in the best possible way. Lots to look at, plenty of fun options, and a nice little experience overall. Definitely a great spot to stop in for a treat.

Stopped into Grandpa Joe’s in York and discovered an important life lesson: two scoops are always better than one. 😎 A huge shoutout to Magical Maddie, the queen of sweet treats, smiles, and helping grown adults make very important ice cream decisions. 🍨✨ From the walls of candy nostalgia to the endless flavors, this place feels like stepping into a childhood memory with air conditioning. Grandpa Joe’s: Where calories don’t count, your inner child gets a promotion, and two scoops become a personality trait. Thanks, Maddie, for making our day a little sweeter and reminding us that sometimes the best therapy comes in a waffle cone. 🍦🍬💕

We finally stopped in and they have alot of candy but they alot of other things as well. Glass bottles of retro sodas like peach Nehi,my fav.Red Ribbon Almond soda tastes like Almond Smash from the 80's. Prices are not cheap but what is cheap these days? They do have a $5 box to fill up with candy, the box is tiny but as long as the box shuts you are good. They have the glitter sodas too, blue, red and green. We didn't spend as much as we do at Sweet in Gettysburg. Grandpa Joes does not have the collection of retro sodas that Sweet has but they have a decent collection. They do have my Almond soda though.

Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop in downtown York is such a fun and unexpectedly massive candy experience. From the moment you walk in, it’s clear this is not your typical candy store. There’s a mix of vintage candy, modern treats, international finds, and playful novelty items all packed into a really creative, whimsical space. One of the most memorable details was the humor throughout the store like a toilet display with candy “coming out of it” which really sets the tone for how fun and lighthearted the whole place is. Beyond candy, they also had cool extras like funky socks, giant rubber chickens, and even a train that runs overhead through the store. It honestly feels like part candy shop, part novelty museum. I especially loved their prank section and soda selection. I tried a pickle pop soda and a cabbage water soda (definitely an experience), plus the viral-style fruit ice creams. I also grabbed a couple truffles cookies and cream and tiramisu which were a nice sweet finish after all the adventurous finds. A fun note this visit was made even more special because I actually won a gift card to Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop through Alex Explorer York, which made it feel like a little u

We stopped by here while visiting our son at college. The chocolate covered Graham crackers with peanut butter are great. My son mowed down his milkshake.
